Hi,

I have a few glass doors on my model that are of the sliding type and they open/close in a manner similar to the ones at the entrance of a supermarket/mall and I have modeled them as windows. Is this approach correct? If so, then when I specify opening types in MacroFlo, how should I define the opening threshold temperature and the degree of opening?

Hi,

To account for the glazed properties of these doors you are correct to model them as windows.

In terms of MacroFlo Opening Type you would just think of this like any other opening. A door has no special properties compared to a window although I guess you wouldn't have as much of a frame area here (larger openable area).

If you'd rather simulate the effects of these doors opening and closing based on occupant traffic rather than threshold temp then you can leave threshold temp at 0 and then assign a custom profile in the Degree of Opening profile input that estimates the daily use of the door.

There should be some extra guidance on this in the MacroFlo user guides that you can access from the VE Help menu and as always I'd suggest just try set up a small test model so you can see the effects of different opening types that you define.
