How does IES uses the design weather data and how does it uses the simulation weather data (i.e. what are the differences)? Is there any reference or documentation on this?

Hi,

Design Weather Data is used for the CIBSE and ASHRAE Loads calcs whereas the Simulation Weather Data is the weather file containing the hourly weather data used by Apache simulations.

Hi,

I have a doubt related to the climate zone classification in IES-VE.

According to Appendix D - ASHRAE 90.1-2007, the CDD50 for city of São Paulo is 7219, which classifies São Paulo in Climate Zone 2. This is in accordance to the classification in Table B-3 - ASHRAE 90.1-2007.

So why is São Paulo classified in climatE zone 3 in ApLocate?

our Knowledge base article should help to clarify how this is derived and reported in VE (it's not an area I have great knowledge on myself but this FAQ was created in response to valid questions that were asked and so we could show exactly what methods the software is using)
