Default buiding type

Post by KGAP »

Hi, VE is not retaining the changes to the default construction set and default building types.

Also when I click on VE toolkits I get the following message;

The current location for software license keys on this PC is:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ies\apps\Keys

Please change the keys to a different location (network etc.) if required.
Then, request keys

You need a valid license for this application.

I am Using google sketchup 7.0.1247 and the ve plug-in.

Thanks :-)

OK, my fault, I think I must have installed the trial version of VE ware on a Windows XP machine because I have just done a fresh install on a Windows Vista laptop and it all seems to work OK.

Problem now is that no matter how hard I try (un-install / re-install / delete VE folders etc) I cant get the VE ware plug-in to work on the XP pro machine at all.

Any ideas at all people please...?

Thank you

Actually, scrap that last reply, just gone back into the model / ve software on the vista machine and now nothing is retaining information again.

Seemed to be working fine yesterday, just doent want to play today.

Man, I give up, I am going back to iSBEM for an easy life....!!

Thanks anyway

Sorry - I've been on holiday for a bit...

that sounds like there's something up with your installation.

Wipe it.. install again and if it's still an issue get on to the IES lads.

Sorry for the delay posting on this one (Zaps last note bumped this so it has appeared on my radar again).

This sounds like a Known Issue (I'm sure it was raised before on these forums).

If you open the project by double clicking the .skp file then the IES <VE> Energy data you assigned using the plug-in can be lost. To get around this (until the development team get around to improving this part of the plug-in) launch SketchUp then use File >> Open to open the project, you should then find your inputs are retained.

Sorry for the inconveniences this has caused you, hopefully you can still see the benefits of using <VE> with the SketchUp and Revit plug-ins over iSBEM...

Thank you, opening sketchup first and then opening the file does indeed work.

It is now retaining the information that I put in and you have restored my faith in this product :D

Now all I need to do is start using it on a regular basis...

iSBEM is magnificent in what it produces etc, but, good lord, I have lost count of how may times have I nearly fell asleep inputting data into it.

PS; Sorry for not replying earlier but I got fed-up waiting for a response.
