Does anyone have any experience generating BREEAM 2011 ENE01 calculations when you have CHP included within the building when using the Apache compliance method?
You must use this site: https://www.epbhub.net/BREEAM/100/index.php, as a result of the issues described within Assessor Guidance Note - GN02.
Anyone care to share any experience?!
BREEAM 2011 ENE01 and CHP
Re: BREEAM 2011 ENE01 and CHP
Hi John,
Nice to see you back on here.
Following discussion with Jose from BRE we implemented a change in VE 6.4.0.8 to CHP reporting that was mostly aimed at the BRUKL outputs for BREEAM assessment. As such the BREEAM Tool site you linked states 6.4.0.8 is now accepted for projects including CHP and Jose was satisfied with this implementation.
Where I'm still unclear is if the BREEAM webtool is doing further corrections when you upload results files from VE 6.4.0.8 or if it now fully accepts the VE results but certainly I think we have made the required changes here.

Re: BREEAM 2011 ENE01 and CHP
Thanks for the response Phil.
When you use the BREEAM online tool with 6.4.0.8 and the output from a model with CHP, it gives you identical numbers to those reported on the BRUKL so does not appear to be doing any further corrections to the numbers. My current thinking is that this is not correct as including CHP within my calculations is still resulting in fewer credits under ENE 01 than the same building without CHP. This is the exact situation that the web tool was supposed to prevent.
If the web tool is not doing any further correction beyond the IES 6.4.0.8 BRUKL then it is redundant for people running 6.4.0.8. This doesn't sit right, with them stating within the tool that it specifically only supports CHP when using version 6.4.0.8. It may be that I'm over-thinking it and have managed to confuse myself, but none of this seems to add up.
I've tried calling the BRE about this but unfortunately they are refusing to speak to me as I am not a BREEAM Assessor. It's an infuriating and frankly pathetic attitude on their part.
p.s. Hopefully this time no one will delete my account!
