Return of experience, double-skin facade buildings...

Hi all,
i'm trying to made a tall building model with a double skin facade with a high glazing ratio, between the middle of the skin (with a distance of 30 cms) there suppose to have natural ventilation.
To have coherent results a colleage recommends me to modelize this natural ventilation as a large-window with a long exposed wall and a bottom hung opening all the time (he doesn't recommend me to use a hole since, according to their experience it doesn't give coherent results).
So my question is if this is the correct way to modelize double skin type facade.
Any return of experience will be highly appreciated.

There is some help on modeling a DSF in Chapter 7 of "MacroFloCalculationMethods.pdf". You will need to have multiple levels in the DSF in order to simulate the buoyancy phenomenon driving the flow inside the DSF. You can have one or even two levels per floor of DSF; in other words, if your DSF is continuous and is 5 floors high, with 4 meters floor-to-floor height, you can have the elements either 4 meters high (but not more) or even 2 meters high. If the DSF is quite wide you can split it along its width as well.
I should stress, however, that modeling a double-skin façade is tricky! You will need to calculate MacroFlo internal openings as per the IES guidance, but the most critical aspect will be the wind pressure coefficients, especially if the DSF is full-height across multiple floors and/or if the DSF is used to naturally ventilate a building and/or if the building shape deviates significantly from a rectangular prism. You simply cannot rely on the standard MacroFlo wind pressure coefficients, you will need to go to either CFD or wind tunnel tests to calculate them.
This is the part where the engineer needs to know that just because he can draw it in ModelIt doesn't mean that the model will be an accurate representation of the building physics. This isn't meant to talk down to anyone, I just want to stress that you need to tread carefully, because you'll have your name on it and it isn't straightforward.

update in case anyone is interested (doubtful)...
I went through my old emails there as I was sure I remember getting something from one of the lads @ IES that looked different to the previous answers and found a PDF that I should share.
I might add that it wasn't my question they were answering - just forwarded me the PDF as I had asked about DSFs and it seemed appropriate.

Hi Zap,
Thank you for your comment, I've got the same problem with the nat vent.
I use the VE 2012 and it offers the room type as the glazing cavity. So i use it with ( 1air change setting, has a better figure?)to create the 1-m wide cavity with 6 mm 100% glazing outside. (at first i tried the 15 cm. height hole for the top
and the bottom but its not working) I use apache but the result is not turn out as I thought
in terms of the Cooling load (btw, my weather file is Bangkok, Thailand)
Any reccommend?

I was wondering whether it would be possible to get the IES pdf about Double Skin Facade. The link provided in the post above does not seem to work any longer.
