Hi ya,

Now i am working on Student accommodation building. The building consists of 5 floors and plan area in ground floor is very similar to rest of the floors like room openings, room areas, and stair positions etc. Is there any way/procedure in IES where i can trace the ground floor intially and use the same file as template for rest of the floors with differnt finish floor levels all the way down in the building.Apaprently it may help in avoiding time for tracing every room in every floor.

Hi,

This sounds fairly straightforward, two ways that spring to mind:

1. Draw the ground floor then make copies of this for each floor above - this way you only need to draw the rooms once. Do this in ModelIT by changing to Front View, select the entire floor and use the Copy button to drag a copy of the floor to the next level.

2. Draw the Ground Floor and then trace over this for each subsequent level (adjusting the Shape Settings Plane level) for each level height.
(When drawing any room sin ModelIT the Shape Settings dialog should be displayed on screen, this allows you to edit data for the shape you are drawing and Plane is the level the base of the room is drawn at.)

Hopefully this should save you some time drawing this building.
