I've seen some crappy messages (they really need to work on their error reports) over the years.
The Saved as models... they don't have 'strange' characters do they? IES are a bit backwards in some of the filenames they can accept - things that MS Word would be happy with causes the sims to fail. Something to do with the, admittedly excellent, Apache engine being DOS based - nothing wrong with that numbers-wise but it's 2009 and I'd have thought it would have been Vista-fied.
Make sure you stay away from Desktop and Network areas to be double-sure.
Do your save as to the C: drive - try "C:\MyProjects\Test\Test1.skp" and if it's still causing grief attach a doc or something and me or one of our community colleagues or one of the IES team can suggest anything.

The failed to write WEA file reminds me of a similar issue that was recently fixed in the IES <VE> Revit plug-in, when a project was saved with a path longer than 59 characters the Launch <VE> process failed and this was the error message displayed.

It could be you have hit a similar restriction with the SketchUp plug-in? Try saving with a shorter path (remember that when you export to <VE> from SketchUp using the plug-in it will create a veExport folder beside the SketchUp file and then create the <VE> project folder with the same name as the skp file inside that!).

I'll check this out myself and feed this through to the Development team if confirmed as an issue but this should let you keep working for just now.

The previous notes from ZapBran are worth remembering as well, save to local C: Drive and avoid illegal characters.
