Hi to all,
Is there any standard way to model rafts (acoustic) suspended from the ceiling? My solution was to draw a local shade and put it under the ceiling. Then I converted to room in order to apply the appropriate construction material. Is that right?

It depends on the kind of analysis you are doing. visual/lighting/thermal/energy?

If you are wanting to consider their affect on solar gains in the space then I wouldn't recommend setting them as local shade as shading surfaces internally are not considered in the calculation. Your best option is to either factor in the effect to the glazing properties or use one of the internal shading options in the glazing properties.

If it is a lighting analysis, the ceiling could be modelled as a component and assigned various surface properties.

If it is a energy analysis then I would recommend modelling the ceiling void as a separate zone in ModelIT. Draw the perimeter room zones as separate spaces with a different height to the centre room zone and then merge the perimeter room zones with the centre room zones to create one single space.
