Hi,

Currently I'm using the VE-2012 version and I would like to know what the "outside surface area ratio", the "inside surface area ratio" and "width" parameters represent in the "frame" section. Does anybody knows?

What about the frame's resistance? Does anyone knows how to calculate that?

Hi, the parameters are as follows:

Outside Surface Area Ratio is the ratio of the externally projected 3 dimensional frame area (i.e. the area of the frame in contact with external air and sometimes called wetted area) v.s. the 2 dimensional planar frame area as defined in the model.

Inside Surface Area Ratio is the ratio of the internally projected 3 dimensional frame area (i.e. the area of the frame in contact with air inside the space and sometimes called wetted area) v.s. the 2 dimensional planar frame area as defined in the model.

The glazing U-value calculations in the <VE> are based on BS EN ISO 10077, with area-weighting applied to the effects of frames.
