1. IES as far as I'm aware don't have anything to do with Revit other than provide a link to get the model into the VE. Revit bought GBS (I'll let you google that yourself) so I'd imagine that's their built in calcs.

3. I'm going to be VERY brief here - so Joseph don't pull me up for being simplistic ;) !!!
a) No shading... err... no shading from your building (self-shading) or from any obstructions (local or site shading) will be taken into account when calculating room loads.
b) External Shading... only shading on the external surface will be taken into account.
c) the effect of shading devices will penetrate into the model.

4. You never do early design stage analysis? Knock up a 500 zone model and try the advanced then ask that question again.

5. (previously 4 part II) What's Revit say about that?

If these are all Revit questions why not ask on a Revit board???
