Hi,

I want to add a louvre ventilation opening in an external wall. I am concerned that if I add this as a 'window' in ModelIT and then specify it as a 'louvre' opening type in Macroflo that solar gain/ fabric losses of this 'window' will impact simulation results?

Do I add this as a door instead? A choice of either 'window' or 'door' seems very limited? Is there another way? I couldnt find anything on this in the user guide.

The other issue is that to enable two external wall type constructions in the same wall I have had to create an external 'door' with fabric constructions to suit the alternate external wall type. This works well untill I need to add a ventilation opeing in it as the construction is a 'door' and this is not possible! Any ideas?

Hi,

For the louvre then a door would be the common approach so you can define it's opening characteristics in MacroFlo but it will still be treated as an opaque element in terms of solar gains and light penetration.

You could model the different wall construction by adding a door on to the wall (you could always reshape to work around the ventilation opening?) or alternatively you could split the room up so the adjacencies are broken up then assign different wall constructions to the wall surfaces. E.g. dividing up the room along that line and then Connecting the two parts leaves you with multiple adjacencies but still one single room.
