Multi-Surface selection

Dear all:
I would like to check average solar flux value on all surfaces of a simulated building. Do I have to investigate facades one by one to check the data or is there a way to multi-select surfaces and check it at one try? (There are too many facades in the building).
Regards and thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
I can't really think of any way to achieve this in Vista I'm afraid, it's a limitation imposed by the whole framework of VE (the levels of decomposition and ability only to choose individual rooms/surfaces at a time). Best I could offer would be to tabulate the results and export then you can compile outside of VE and view side by side but for a lot of surfaces it could turn into a fair bit of data.
remember to choose appropriate options on the simulation output options before running the sim as well so there are results to display...

Thank u for your explanation! I am trying an alternative to calculate the total solar flux using the "solar gain" output by Apachesim. However, I could not found the exact relationship between this two values. I used to believe that "solar gain=solar flux*area of window*SHGC", but the formula seems not accurate in IES. The specific formula is not described in the IES user manual either. Could u kindly point out if this approach is feasible or not. (I assinged 100% vertical facades as windows).
Thank you!

I don't have anything more on this than is in the calculation Methods documents, solar gain will take into account the properties of the opaque and glazed constructions, any Suncast calculated percentage area sunlit and possibly other factors (Room Data Solar reflected fraction for example) so I'm not sure if it is a linear cal that can be performed by hand for even the simplest of spaces.
Sorry I can't shed any more light on it

Hi,
Do you have any idea whether it is there a possibility for Vista to give the conduction gain from a specific wall?
My vista out put doesnt show conduction gain when I move to the level of decomposition of surface. I could only see the conduction gain breakdown in the overall room.
example: conduction gain external wall.
Is it possible to get the conduction gain from only one surface. eg:west facing external wall?
Please assist

I don't think it's possible to do that. try sending a request to
feedback@iesve.com so the team can consider introducing it
