Hi All,

Probably a very simple answer to this asI've only just started using Sketchup, but here it goes anyway.

I've received a Sketchup model that is quite complex, lots of curved walls and odd curved roof. I'm trying to identify the rooms to import the geometry to VE2012 but I get a warning message telling me a list of things that could be wrong.

So I follow the steps, 'explode' model and 'intersect' the geometry. When I try to discover rooms next it finds 2500+ elements!
Still it wont import to VE. I'm wondering, as I'm not using Sketchup Pro, is it possible that the model is built in thick walls? if so, how do I determine if it is?

Forgive my rudeness...

I would just state on this board here that the thick walls are really NOT in any condition to use - try to stick to thin walls.

I'm not sure what the official word might be (bet there has to be some level of diplomacy and avoidance of admitting weakness ) but I've really struggled with thick walls in an admittedly short evaluation period (about 2 years ago right enough).

Thick Walls has had some improvements in the past year so if you are not running the very latest then it might be worth revisiting it but I do agree as models get more complex then I would urge you to think about doing it as Thin Walls rather than Thick Walls.

Having said that if you can provide any specific examples of where things have gone wrong then please pass on to feedback@iesve.com so that we can feed these back into the development team and hopefully we can improve this tool further.

Thanks Phil - I'll check out the thick walls on the new 2012fp2 and see if the results are any better.
