Relationship between solar gain and solar flux

Dear All:
I would like to know the relationship between the solar gain through a window and solar flux on the external surface of the window. According to the definition, I though the relationship should be "solar gain=solarflux*area of the window*SHGC. However, when I set up a certain SHGC (say 0.49) by tuning parameters of the glazing construction. I found the beforementioned relationship not applied. I tried to refer to the Apachesim Calculation Manual of IES, but no specific calculations are described for the relationship.
