Modelling large spaces

Hello,

I am modelling a large sports hall with a domed roof. I understand that to get better results I should separate it to zones.
1. Do I need to physical separate it? ie in modelit through divide spaces (without partitions)? I am asking becuase it is taking the computer a long time to divide the space... Perhaps there is another way to assign thermal zones in a large space.
2. Initially I just multiplexed the same space 6 times to count for the 6 units in the zone- will that work?

PS- There was an entry from 2008 about modelling sports halls and auditoriums. In the quote below, the link doesn't work. It would be good to have the article.
