Warnings from Model Check - Slivers + unmatched adjacencies

Hi all,

I have just run checks on my model (Settings>>Model>>Checked: Intersection, Zones, Surfaces, Constructions, Groups>>Check), which has resulted in a whole list of model warnings.

Would anyone be able to clarify what the items listed under each of the following categories means and how to fix them?
- "Scanning Model for slivers"
- "Scanning Model for unmatched adjacencies"

Also, what are the impacts on my results if these warnings are not addressed?

Hi,

Slivers are just small area surfaces, it can be thought of more as a warning than an error since you may have valid slivers in the model. Worth checking though since in most cases you can just model snapping to grid to avoid slivers between walls.

Umatched adjacencies are more of a concern, this is where a surface on one side sees a different area than the surface on the other side. For example you have a room which is adjacent along one wall to two other rooms. The entire wall maybe 100 sqm and each of the adjacent walls may be 50sqm but one of the adjacent rooms the adjacent wall area only sees 49.8 sqm say so there is some area not accounted for. This obviously isn't right and most often comes about where there are other problems in the geometry, redrawing spaces or adjusting their endpoints/vertices so they match up better is how to solve this.

I'd say the unmatched adjacencies and slivers may both be related to how some rooms are drawn. We always advise to snap to grid rather than a DXF (you can use it as a guide but snap to nearest grid point to get best results).

Well worth taking a reveiw of your geometry and have a go at tightening up some of affected rooms before you proceed.
