Placing Componets

Post by raw109 »

First post here.I am incredibly new at IES VE and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to physically place components, like a man or a computer, into my model. I can bring up the "Place Component" menu, and select what I want and apply characteristics to it but I have no idea how to get it into my model. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry this can be quite tricky (well, not intuitive anyway), I think it might have been covered in the forums before but very briefly...

ModelIT
Select room
go down level of decomposition (grey down arrow at top of screen)
change to Plan view
Change mode from Surface into Component using dropdown beside storey selector - this opens Place Component dialog
choose component and enter properties of the placement
Click Place component toolbar button
click in room in the workspace to place in the model

easy :ugeek:

Thank you Phil. I'm still trying to learn how the program likes things to be done. Plan view seems to be my friend. Thanks again.

Yes Plan view, although you are modelling the spaces in 3 dimensions most work is done in a 2D view (plan)
