After draw partitions something wrong
After draw partitions something wrong
Hi, after I import the dxf file into IES ,I use extruded shape line draw my house master plan after that I use draw partitions line divide different spaces. However, the problem is that after I draw partition line the new room is generated but some part of my house external wall is disappeared.??? anyone have same problem? how to fix the external wall.I am not sure the problem is about Ies modle or my dxf file.thank you.
Re: After draw partitions something wrong
Hi,
It's probably a little bit of both. The wall shouldn't disappear (bad software) but I've seen this mainly happen when the original geometry isn't robust enough. The most common cause of this problem is DXF where you have used the DXF endpoint snap to trace it, instead you should set a fine grid and use the grid point snap. By choosing gridpoints that are pretty much as close as you would need to the dxf endpoints you ensure the whole model is built and stored on an axis the VE can accurately store and work with so when you move on to further edits (again you should be following grid points) the edits will be accurate and the spaces will align properly.
It's very important to learn this lesson now and it will save you a lot of extra work later on in the modelling and analysis.
Generally, where you see this problem occur then you should undo and try again, snapping ot grid points and you should find you can add the partitions without error.
