Thermal conductivity of building materials

Post by JamesLeeson »

Hey guys,

Does IES take account of the difference in thermal conductivity of building materials in wet and dry conditions. For example you set the u value of the external walls when making a model. Does it change over time when a simulation is run to reflect the rainfall from the weather file being absorbed into the material hence increasing its u value?

Thanks,

James

Hi,

No I don't think there is anything in VE to take account of moisture absorption in the materials. You could take a look in the relevant user guides and calculation methods documents but I can't even really think of a simple way of testing this but I am pretty sure it's not accounted for at all
