Component Option Not Appearing After Selecting Surface

Hi,
I have recently been trying to place windcatchers into my model and have been following a youtube tutorial. In the video a surface is selected and from the drop down menu, Component is selected. When i try this myself, openings and adjacency only appear.

I have tried placing the components without selecting a surface and just moving them into position. But this leads to errors in Apache (error: External holes not permitted).

Any help at all would be brilliant as the work is needed for my dissertation which is due this month.

you are level to far down.
In modelIT go up to the main viewing level, select a room , move down 1 decompostion (who the fk named that?) level and change to plan view and select component viewing.
