Local shading dimensions

Hi, when you are adding local shading in the constructions database, it requires a window height and width. Does this mean that if you have an overhang over two sides of a glazed rectangle (curtain walling) that you need to put in different glazing types for each wall, with the dimensions set to the width of the wall?
Thanks, Rebecca

Or you could model the glazed rectangle.
Then model where the shading would be with local shades (green)

Then you know 100% where your shading and what type of window you have etc.

If modelling these through Constructions Database then yes you would need to have different constructions assigned for the different shading device dimensions (even if the glazing assigned to the windows is the same).

It's worth bearing that in mind when deciding whether to go with Glazed Construction defined shading or physically drawn in ModelIT shading since there will be times when one or the other will possibly be faster. The additional benefit of modelling the shading in ModelIT is you can visually see it but the new Input Data Visualisation in Apache includes assigned Constructions and so would give a nice visual feedback as well to see what is assigned, tabular CDB might make taking the standard defined window construction and quickly making the different versions of it faster too now.
