I need to create a profile for summer night natural ventilation for a school.
At 16:00 if the outside temperature is above 26 the windows should open. Obviously the windows will stay opened till 8:00 the next morning, (there will be noone to close them again) when the lessons start even if there is a drop in the temperature below 26 degrees.

In other words,if the temperature at 16:00 will be below 26 the windows will not open even if there is an increase later (by the end of the day the temperature drops so propably there will not be any problem)

Could someone please describe the proccess, I need this for my MSc thesis?
I know how to work with the profile database but I need the directions for the above setting.

That's a very good question but I'm not sure it can actually be done exactly as you describe since IES does not allow time as a variable that can be referenced within a profile.

I'll try to explain.

IES independently assesses each hour based upon the profile formula that is applied to it in each case. In other words, there is no way I know of to make the decision of whether windows are open or closed at midnight to be dependent upon what was happening at 16:00.

Ideally you would need some sort of "freeze" function which basically holds the windows in state based on their previous settings until unfrozen but this function does not exist as far as I am aware.

The best I have been able to do is schedule the profiles into summer mode and winter modes, with summer mode night venting just being on regardless of whether it is an unseasonably cold day.

If you work out a way of making this work, I would be interested, so please post back.

You made it clear that something is wrong if you try to apply common logic at the scheduling of ventilation.
This is really a sector that chenges should be made from IES.

Nevertheless, I will try to see if it is possible to make a theoritical assumption in order to make any steps forward with this.
