Custom Chilled Water Loop with Constant Efficiency

Works in conjunction with ApacheSim to provide effective modelling of conventional/advanced HVAC systems, operation and control.

Custom Chilled Water Loop with Constant Efficiency

Post by enerGwizz »

I have another project where chilled water is being provided from a central plant outside of the building. Since the VE doesn't have the capability to simply assign a tariff to chilled water, I'm trying to specify a new custom chilled water loop in ApHVAC with a constant COP that will match the chilled water tariff after using the electric tariff. For whatever reason, the custom loop I define is not staying after I exit the waterside dialog (after saving the system, of course).

How would you create a chilled water loop that uses a constant efficiency?

An update to my previous post:

I DID find, after some digging, a LEED Virtual DES water-cooled chiller that I expect has linear curves for efficiency at part-load. After zeroing out cooling tower and condenser water pump energy, and specifying the rated COP, that should do the trick..

HOWEVER, after setting up the loop, saving, going to the airside and then back, the cooling coils that I had set to this new loop had reverted back to the default chilled water loop and my loop wasn't even a selection anymore. When I looked over at the browser to the left, the coils were still set under my loop, but when I clicked on the loop, the software crashed.. What to do now?
