Sir,
Could anyone pls explain what are EER, SEER and SSEER in ApacheSim. i have EER value alone as 3.2. what should be the SEER value and SSEER value???

Hi,

EER = Energy Efficiency Ratio. This represents the performance at certain conditions at a certain point in time.

SEER = Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. This represents the performance of the unit over the course of a year/season.

SSEER = System Seasonal Efficiency Ratio. As above but taking into account losses in the system.


As a general rule: EER > SEER > SSEER.

I hope this makes sense. I generally find it very difficult to obtain reliable EER data from manufacturer's. For boilers, seasonal efficiency data is often readily available. For mechanical cooling plant I often see some very optimistic data as testing standards seem to be a bit of a grey area.

But it is mentioned that EER applies to UK NCM only. so is it necessary to give that value or no need to give if not using UK NCM???
And also pls let me know by how much % will SEER and SSEER wil be less than EER?

Vista will apply the SSEER (derived from the SEER) when converting load to energy and so, in most cases, the EER is not that important as far as the results goes.

There is no standard % difference between EER, SEER and SSEER as it is totally dependant upon the selection of heating/cooling generation equipment and how your system delivers the resultant medium around the building.

To be honest, the method of applying SEERs and SSEERs is pretty crude but will do for basic models. If you want to model the system side properly you have to use HVAC (or another software entiely such as the "T" word that shall not be spoken on these forums )
