advices about how model a concourse mall with vertical shaf

I hope someone can help me with some modelling issue. I’m not sure what is the best way to model a concourse mall in a shopping centre, which has a vertical shaft (different in each level), but it isn’t an atrium properly, or I think that, so for that reason I’m confused because I know that to model an atrium or light well in IES, the space around that atrium have to modelled in two part (as two “C”s in shape plan view). I’m modelling a shopping centre with three storeys, in each level there are commercial area spaces in each side on the lengthened plan and in between of that spaces commercial area there is a mall (like a corridor in the middle), which has a hole in the floor slab, like a shaft, to provide daylight from the roof, so I don’t know if model it like an atrium or just the model the mall (internal corridor) and draw the hole in each slab floor, without create a space within the mall to represent the shaft. I want to analyse natural ventilation and daylight through that concourse mall. If someone what could help me, I can send you some drawings and sketches to explain better this model
