Odd Looking TER ob SBEM Compliance

Hello,

I have just completed modelling a small school block (approx 470m2) using 100% building area as D1 Primary School.

When I have run the SBEM Compliance calculation the TER is being calculated as 105.6 and the BER is 29.3.

When I have looked at the BRUKL Output Document the heating energy consumption actual is 38.43 but the notional is a massive 490.37.

I am a relative novice on this software but have never seen such large difference in the two figures.

Has anyone had this issue this or is there something glaringly obvious that I have done incorrectly?

Many thanks in advance.

Check your renewable and/or CHP inputs. Are these offsetting actual building energy consumption?

If they aren't and you still think the results are incorrect then send your sbem input file to sbem@bre.co.uk and they will be able to confirm. They usually highlight any discrepancies they can find with your inputs.

To find the input file select Building Compliance and then View Results folder.

The input file will have the building name and the extension .inp (eg. examplebuilding.inp). You can ignore the BRUKL and notional building input files.

Thanks for your help.....however, I found that the issue was caused by an extremely high Notional Alpha value (over 1000%!!!).

By running the Compliance on individual rooms I worked out that 3no adjacent rooms were causing the problem.

I deleted them and re-modelled them (exactly the same as I did originally) and this time there is no problem.

Thanks again for your assistance though, it is much appreciated.
