Hi everybody,
I have modelled a model and has done all the necessary including apachesim and boundary condition in marcoflo.
However when I try to import boundary condition in macroflo, whenever I check the box on opening flow, there is an unbalance flow. Hence I proceeded without the opening flow option. How will it affect my simulations if I am looking at the air temperature and surface temperature?
In addition, how should I go about doing finding the air temp of air which I modelled as "invisible room" at a height of 1.5m from my roof by using 100% windows and holes. I am also trying to find the surface temperature of my roof.
If I click the surface temperature at the top of the tool bar, does it shows both the air temperature or the surface temperature? Reason being is that I have a higher colour intensity of my air layer than my roof layer which might not be feasible. Greatly need and appreciate any help. thanks!

Re: How to model surface & air temp in CFD
Are you trying to model a multi-zone space? In that case, while running ApacheSim ensure that you have selected both the rooms in the list under 'Output Options' and that 'Outputs required by MicroFlo is selected.
How much is the amount of flow imbalance? If it is a very small value, it is most probably due to error introduced due to large temperature difference between room temperature and ambient temperature. You can cure this by adjusting the inflow or out flow value or both slightly.
If it is large, you might have to look at the way multi-zone space is created. For multi-zone space, the import of boundary conditions should be the step coming after creating of multi-zone space and multi-zone space partitions. If you import boundary conditions before these two steps, you are most likley to introduce an error.
Your calculations will be affected if you are analyzing an instance where windows are open as not importing flow will produce completely different results.
Air temperature is internal air temperature and surface temperature is as name suggests. What tool bar and what module are you referring to?

Re: How to model surface & air temp in CFD
Hi harshadi
1) Yes I am modelling a multi zone space and have indeed selected the variable output options
2) My airflow imbalance is pretty small.. how can I actually adjust the values of inflow and outflow manually?
3) I import boundary condition after creating the mutli zone space
4) I had to use the 100% opening window as I am trying to define a zone which is classified as the air layer. In find the temperature of the air temperature within this zone. So I have to select the opening flow in this cost else what I get wont be accurate?
5) How can I obtain the mircflo simulation result for internal air temperature and surface temperature? What are the steps to reach this? I did like what the tutorial guide mentioned but when I reached the mircoflo stage, I couldn't find any option to show the colour contour of surface temperature in my multi zone space.
Under vista pro, what are the options to check if I want to simulate the results for air temperature and also surface temperature in mircoflo? If I want the boundary condition to be over a period of 1 month? Do I manually adjust the duration time?
The tool bar I am referring to is actually the 1 horizontal line of selections where u can select "print" "save" etc.. there is one on temperature, velocity and pressure.
My main aim is to obtain the surface temperature of the surfaces and air temperature in the zone separately. Please kindly assist me to the steps. Greatly appreciated!
