Export to gbXML?

Noticed the only output options currently available for IES projects/models are GEM/STL and DXF? I know a “veXML” is created with the google SketchUP plugin, is there any way to export all the high level data stored in an IES model into the gbXML format?

Most of my experience with gbXML has been very buggy thus far, but knowing how to properly create a very clean and nice IES model now I believe if one were to be exported from IES it would probably work just fine and might improve our coordination and workflow if it could be exported to a format like gbXML and re-imported without having to re-assign constructions, room types, room names, etc. Some of the things like the HVAC system are separate so wouldn’t need to be included.

Of course the limits of the data stored would be the limits of the gbXML, but from what I know there is some good things that are/can be stored in it.

Or are there any differences between the veXML format and the gbXML format?

Just curious, thanks!

Nick

No, the VE only lets you export 2d DXF and also STL files at the moment so the third party software would need to be able to read either of those files.

Our developers are looking at including a 3D export option but i'm not sure what that will be or when it will be available.

Hi Terence,
I think the DXF export is 3D.

Hi !

In VE2013, if you click on "file", you have the option "export project to RT 2012". The model is exported in gbXML.
I tested to import it like gbXML with greenspace in sketchup and it worked !
