Trouble with the EPW creator

Hi,

I have two pressing problems with the EPW creator.

The first problem is that I cannot make an EPW file with decimals that is usable in VE. I have tried using both dot and comma as separators, either way the EPW creator translate 7.6 degree Celsius as 7,6 which obviously results in displacement in the EPW. What am I doing wrong?

The second problem is that VE convert the entered values: Global, diffuse, normal irradiance and cloud cover. The values in VE are converted from 1..24hour to 0.30..23.30hour and completely different from the entered values in the EPW file. Why is this? Does it have something to do with the zenit angle? Are why are the cloud cover values different in VE than in EPW?

Is there any literature on how IES calculate the climate parameters?

Thanks.

Kind regards,
Sana Becirbasic

Hi Sana,

For the first issue I think the problem is with certain versions of Excel. I have asked the person who created the EPW Creator Macro to look into this to see if it can be resolved.

No, it is just the way it works, weather file data is reported every hour on the half hour.

Thanks for quick reply.

Have you come any closer to solving the problem of decimals?

I have tried a couple of suggestion from people around me. If I set excel to use system seperators then I can change the latitude and longitude manually and have them read correctly. However, the converter now reads 7.6 as 76 while 7,6 is still the same problem.

Not yet. I don't think this will be an immediate fix.

In the meantime you can try using our FWT Macro. The instructions are included in the archive.
