IES VE export to Revit MEP

IES's specially developed Revit plug-in Toolbar allows Revit Architecture and MEP users to import their 3D BIM model into IES's software and undertake sustainable performance analysis.

IES VE export to Revit MEP

Post by Filippo »

Hello,

I am a student and I am working on my Master's Thesis in Architectural Engineering, dealing with Energy simulation and MEP design in BIM Systems.
I have read the IES-Revit Plugin whitepaper which explains how to use the plugin (working with gbXML) to export geometry from Revit to IES, so that you can, for example, run an energy analysis or design the HVAC system, without modeling your building again.

I would like to know whether materials and physical parameters of building elements (such as wall stratigraphy and its thermal properties) are exported to IES together with geometry.
Also, I would like to know whether it is possible or not to export MEP systems (designed in IES-VE) directly to Revit MEP as 3d Families.

The workflow may be the following: Revit Architecture (building-construction modeling) -> IES VE (energy analysis and HVAC design) -> Revit MEP (MEP management of systems imported from IES)

Thank you
