Tabular Room Data - Element export?

Post by tabassett »

Hi all,

I'm trying desperately to export details from an IES model into a .csv. The specific data I am looking to export is a breakdown of every room in terms of thermal elements. That is, I'm looking for the following:

Room 1:
Wall 1 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Wall 2 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Wall 3 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Wall 4 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Window 1 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Floor 1 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.
Ceiling 1 - Construction type, area (m²), U-Value.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Designbuilder does it, but so far there's no 3D export from IES. Tabular Room Data is so amazing, but it seems to lack this basic output.

Some of this information is available in the "CostPlan (pre-VE2013)" Module, such as glazed area, gross area, etc. As far as U-Values go, that should be in your construction that you defined for that space in Apache.

I haven't used more than 1 or 2 different wall types or glazing types, but this information is pretty easy to get when it's selected in the module I mentioned previously.

I would have gotten back to you sooner but I had password issues on the forum! ~_~

A little time has passed on but there are two areas that can output this information for you and should be useful reference for others.

- Report Generator (Under the Tools menu) can give Constructions assignments under the rooms category
- Model Report (in ModelIT under Settings >> Model... menu)

These both output Assigned Construction Areas per room and I would hope add some value for people who need this. I'll also log this with feedback@iesve.com to request a more detailed report output (perhaps similar to the format that the ASHRAE 90.1 PRM Report shows Construction assignments for the Proposed and Baseline buildings?)
