Assigning two different constructions to one surface

This has came up a few times recently so thought i'd make a quick post.
Here we have a room that is currently using STD_WAL2 as its external wall construction

Say you want to assign two different constructions to the surface facing us (without the window).
To do this, go into ModelIT, select the room in plan view and select the Partition Tool highlighted below

Select Generate sub spaces within the selected zone and Divide without partitions

Now, draw your partition where you want to divide the wall into two sections

Next, go into ApacheSim or VE Compliance. Switch to Axonometric view and move down a level to surface level.

Select the section of wall you want to assign the other construction to and then Assign Constructions

You will now have two different constructions assigned to one surface.
