A few questions regarding inputting data for Part L compliance.
1. photoelectric dimming can be applied in the Display Lighting and Controls Tab in tabular room data, but dimming can also be applied in internal gains tab (as long a a suitable dimming profile is applied). Say I used Radiance and then used a ramp profile, am I not then allowing for dimming twice? or this perfectly ok to do?
I would have thought that if either one is used, then the other should be preyed out but the dimming should be applied to both the energy consumption from lighting and the cooling load from internal gains.
I'm guessing I can tick both since the option is available?
2. In the Apache system data, for certain system types the ventilation needs to be input at room level where SFP and heat recovery efficient can be added. Why do they then give an option for heat recovery ventilation in the NCM wizard? This is really the same question as above, can I add this in both areas or only 1?
3. When applying heat recovery ventilation ie supply and extract at room level, only the supply box should be ticked, in the BRUKL document the box says "supply/extract" just to confuse matters. Apparently the notional uses a mouth watering 0.9w/l/s when this box is ticked with heat recovery which is not available from any manufacturer. Is it acceptable to split the supply and extract and tick the exhaust box also, I can then half the SFP. eg if I had a heat recovery unit with an SFP of 1.5w/l/s, can i tick the supply and exhaust box and put an SFP in both at 0.75w/l/s? I don't see why not as the total energy consumption would be the same but I wont be competing with an unrealistic notional SFP.
Thanks

Re: Lighting controls and heat recovery
1. No, if you use dimming under NCM Lighting Control as well as the Radiance link with a dimming profile then you would be applying dimming twice. You should only use one or the other.
2. SBEM allows Heat Recovery to be input at room level. Apache Sim you should set it at system level in Apache Systems (We’ve requested such things to be smarter when ApacheSim mode so you don’t see them when they are not relevant).
3. You should only use exhaust when you have additional extract (e.g Extractor hoods in Kitchens).
The following is article is from our knowledge base and looks at entering SFPs for systems when running Compliance.
