External Analysis and Wind Direction

Hello All.
I apologize if this has been posted before, or if it's a simple answer/solution...
I have a campus of buildings that I would like to analyze the external wind conditions and the various building relationships.
This is currently very high-level conceptual analysis. I have my location set, climate zone and climatic data acquired, etc, and know the prevailing wind direction for my site.
The issue comes when entering wind direction to the external simulation. If I have one of the main cardinal directions entered - 0,90,180,270 - the simulation runs perfectly, converges nicely and can run through an infinite number of iterations sans issue.
When I enter a direction 'off-cardinal', say 25, 205, 145 degrees, the simulation runs for maybe 40 iterations, and dies. just drops to nothing and says 'run completed'. This is either for the campus, or each building individually.
am i missing something?
