You should be, as far as I know the licenses have a set expiry date, regardless of which version software it is, so you should be able to upgrade.

Hi,

You can use the same licenses with any version of <VE>, when we release an update you simply need to install the updated software and the same licenses can be used. I feel it's worth pointing this out for other users in case this isn't clear.

<VE> version 6 does require updated licenses to be run but there is no charge to obtain these, you just need to run IESClean.exe from the apps folder of your <VE> installation and choose to uninstall keys. This will produce an uninstall PIN that you send to keys@IESVE.com and then they can send you back keys that are compatible with <VE> version 6.

It is also worth noting that you can have a <VE> version 5.9.x installation on the same machine as a <VE> version 6.x.
