correct height of rooms

I have a simple basic question.
When I model a building with the first floor height floor to ceiling 2.7m an internal floor with height 0.3m and a second floor with height 2.7m and roof with height 0.3.
When I model my room which is the correct way to do that?
I was told to model the rooms with height floor to floor of 2.7+0.3=3 m and specify the internal floor and roof construction normally.
In this way my building will have the correct height that is quite useful to have a correct shading in the site..
but will IES deduct the volume of the slab from the calculation in this way? I am doing a BB101 overheating analysis and I dont want to affect the results with a bigger volume.
Thanks
