Partitions – Sub Space and Separate Zone

What is the difference between a sub space and separate zone?

To include a partition wall the check button options given are,
1 Generate sub space within selected zone
2 Generate new separated zone
3 Divide with partition
4 Divide without partition

I divided a 10x10X4 room with options 1+3 and 2+3 to see if it makes a difference.

With a window in each quarter and the same ventilation and gains profile applied I would have thought that the room temp for options 1+3 (1 zone and 1 output value) and 2+3 (4 zones and 4 output values) would be the same, but they are not. Why this is the case?
