New to IES VE - Need help creating envelope using DXF

Hi there,
I am currently working on a building model for my mechanical engineering undergraduate thesis but am very new to this software. As such, I was not able to find much guidance online thus far (Youtube, IES Guides, other forums, etc.) and was hoping to have someone assist me in my endeavors to create a building envelope properly in ModelIT. I am currently attempting to assess an existing building from 2003, and have the drawings in DXF format. I have tried to create the geometry of the building by tracing over and creating an extruded shape or prism but with no success. The geometry won't snap to close the loop of a respective space, and even if it seems like it has the model won't generate a 3-D volume even though I have specified the height that I would like to the volume to reach.
If anyone could help me with any tips regarding working with DXF files as trace patterns for building envelopes that would be greatly appreciated!
Steve
