How can you assess Useful daylight index (UDI) through the use of Radiance dynamic simulation tool .
Hi I am trying to present UDI figures ,calculated from IES radiance dynamic simulation tool , in accordance with rules and requirements stated in the Priority Building program school ( PBPS) , the issue that I am having with the way the result shown in IES ; the software presents % results for each grid point for the selected working plane (based on the preferred lux level set ie: <100 lux ,or between 100-3000 lux etc..) ,whereas what I need to know is that the overall % of hours that represents for the entire working plane so that I can comment and report to say whether the required threshold level is achieved for the inspected room ( PSBP requires lux level between 100 lux to 3000 lux during the 80% occupied hours) , With the current level of illustration made available in IES , I don’t think you can easily present this information ( unless I am missing something here where the software already shows this in the result? ), if we can know the full year data for hourly average lux level for the entire working plane, and have ability to export this into the excel , we should then be able sort out this information based on course of period that we are interested , ( however, at the moment ; even we can access the full year data ; there seems to be issue with exporting this data in excel sheet as it only does in single cell format , so this is not really useful ) ,
IES only reports total annual average lux level for each grid point at the moment, this is not what we want for the UDI for PBPS , IES probably using index required under different scheme such as LEED ? but not PSBP , Please let me know if I am missing something here
Also ; IES reports lux for each grid point in accordance with pre-determined profiles in the simulation option ,which may not tie up with the profile that you would like to set in the model and result eventually will be evaluated for a different time scale , especially this can be imported when you count the number hours to determine % hours for the compliance , so the question here ; Is there anywhere in the software I can change/edit these profiles for the UDI so that it can be in line with the actual model profiles, or this is not necessary as the PBPS only requires certain time period( ie 8.30-16.00) regardless what profile being set in the model
