Hi,
We're looking at removing the Export Room Data and Report Generator options in VE 2015 as we feel they are better replaced by other aspects of the VE mainly Tabular Room Data.
We've had different requests recently for different details of the model geometry (window to wall ratios, glazing area per façade orientation etc) and am looking at spec'ing an enhancement request for extra data to be added to the Model Geometry set in Tabular room Data or perhaps a new bespoke report. Would love some extra ideas here of things you want to extract from your VE models but can't find.
Also if we do go ahead and remove Export room Data (e.g. in VE Compliance Building Compliance menu >> Export Room Data) and Report Generator (Tools menu >> Report Generator) what would you miss or what data do you take from these that you an't get elsewhere?
Appreciate any input on this from those in the field please
Phil

Re: Export Room Data
Hi Phil,
I'm not sure there is anything that will be massively missed from those report tools.
I often find a need to export geometry data, to get heat loss breakdowns for wall, floor, window roof etc. on a building level.
This suggests which is best to improve.
Perhaps this could be integrated into the CIBSE loads outputs

Thanks Ross, yes this ties into the general feedback I've been getting that there is a real need for this info.

Re: Export Room Data
We use the export room data feature to do a quick QAQC check on baseline vs. proposed inputs to ensure that parameters are the same/different where expected - e.g. same EPD but different LPD.
Re: Export Room Data
Hi,
This is something that tabular Room Data should do for you. If you go through configure tabs and columns you can display proposed and baseline on side by side columns (or actual and notional for you UK folks).
We plan to add some more functionality in here so it can be preconfigured on a tab for these comparisons but for now with a little manual investment you can get this up and running (and it will still give an excel output if required)
