i have recently got a new second screen for my laptop for IES purposes. I have encountered a problem where by when i select any command in ModelIT i get a black band around the screen.
i am not sure how to attach images to posts.
To be clear this doesn't happen anywhere else in IES just when pressiong on command in ModelIT
has anyone experienced this or have the same problem.
i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, also changing the colour preferences doesnt clear the issue.
furthermore when the black par is around the screen i am unable to see anything behind it.

hmmm... strange one.
My immediate thought would be that the graphics card on the laptop can't handle the second monitor fully (with the resolution set). I'm not writing out an issue in ModelIT but I'm pretty sure it's not that (unless it's something to do with the way we use the Windows GDI but I would have thought that would have reared it's ugly head at somepoint over the last decade or so.
I've been working with a laptop on a second monitor since 2006 and it's been fine but IES do treat me to a lovely high spec DELL XPS.

i have been working with the technical support over a few weeks now and nothing seems to be fixing it, re-installation etc etc.
i know what you are saying in terms of the graphics and i wish i could show you exactly what i mean.
When i first open a model in ModelIT the whole screen is visible, theres no black i can see the whole screen as it should be.
It is only when i press on one of the drawing commands the black parts appear. To me it seems like a combination of the both, IES and the graphics spec. Although its a new laptop and not a bad spec HP EliteBook.
Its quite a frustrationg error though as i cant see the building or dimensions etc behind it so drawing is quite restricted.
hopefully if i keep doing what the technical guys suggest we will get there in the end.
