Ran into a bit of a problem. I am trying to model a few ventilation strategies for a double height space production area however, I cannot seem to place a supply diffuser or extract grille anywhere but a surface, preventing me to model diffusers say at high level within the space and not on the surface such as a ceiling. I have read the IES user guides but it seems I cannot find the solution.

What way would you advise me to model this? Your advice would be much appreciated!

You can use components to model such 'offset' diffusers. Ensure the component is solid and rectangular. Do not assign any properties to it in the component dialog box. Place the component correctly. Then navigate down to the surface on component where you have the diffuser and place it as you would on a wall.

Just don't go overboard with such a setup. Use the offset diffuser in MicroFlo only if the offset is more than 2.5% of the height of the space. Otherwise you should be able to get away without adding the offset.
