IES-VE User Forum

Hi All,

Currently having a problem trying to get my Revit model to translate properly into IES. I can see all the rooms in the Virtual Environment but the facade is not appearing. We have followed everything that IES recommend to do(based on the white paper document that they provide) but yet still no results. The model itself has over 1000 rooms so I am wondering does IES have the capability to handle a model this big? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Further to this guidance, the Revit gbXML export dialog gives a lot of information on the model that is being exported and will highlight any issues that may still be present after import to VE so you get the chance to resolve these early on in the Revit modelling process. It will also highlight any warnings or errors with the calculation of the room element areas. Volumes and placement which again is vital early feedback on the quality of the modelling.

If you are not working on the Revit model yourself and it has been created by another user (i.e an architect) then I’d show them the White Paper and draw attention to the gbXML export dialog I mentioned above in Revit as this shows you exactly what is being exported and often errors in the geometry can be caught at this point before it gets to the analysis software import stage. This export has also been improved in recent versions so you can get warnings and errors as well when rooms elements are not properly defined in the export.
