Hi,

I am using IES and JPA to perform SAP calculations. When the dwelling data is imported from IES to JPA the data from the constuction database manager that is assigned to the various elements is also imported.

Where elements have no heat transfer, such as a wall that seperates two dwellings if the construction is solid or has a fully filled cavity with sealed edges, the u-value of the wall should be 0 according to the SAP methodology. Is there a method of specifying this within the construction database manager before the data is exported? Currently when I import data into JPA the u-value of the walls are the same as what is in the CDM and therefore I have to change it manually in JPA.

Also SAP calculations do not take account of internal walls, ceilings and floors within dwellings. I have noticed that these elements are still imported to the JPA program. Is there a method of excluding these from the import procedure?

Hi,

The import mechanism in JPA isn't capable of distinguishing party walls at present so all surfaces and their assigned constructions are imported for each dwelling. It's something that may be developed further but at present I don't think it's in the plans.
