PRM Simulation lagging

Post by adicrimu »

Hello,
I am fairly new to IES VE. I recently updated IES VE to the latest version. My problem is, when I try to do the PRM Simulation, after a month of calculations, it starts to lag and it takes about a minute to calculate a single timestep. My model is a building with 1020 rooms and 26 floors. On other projects, comparable in size the simulation runs smoothly. Is it a problem with my model, or is it something software related. Also my PC is a I7 with 8gb of ram. It took aproximatively 24 hours to complete. If any of you experienced similar issues, any information would be great.

I am having to deal with slow simulations as well, it might be something to do with the model construction elements, as when I try to run the simulation at lower timesteps I get the error that there is instability in my roof construction.

Tech support recommended that you run the projects directly from the C:// drive rather from your desktop. create a folder named VEprojects directly in C:// path and copy your project there then run the simulation.

If anyone can shed some more light on simulation time speeds it would be very appreciated, as it is becoming very inefficient to properly troubleshoot your model when simulations take hours long or days long to complete. I am a bit disappointed with the simulation speeds as other energy simulation tools have incredibly faster simulation times even on large models such as towers and large complexes.
