Do users prefer the traditional Building Template Manager interface or the newer Tabular Building Template manager for creating and referencing Thermal Templates? Please feel free to add your reasons.

I prefer to use both, when staring the project I use template manager.
but as I progress, I use tabular for changing some data.

Hi Terance,
I like to use both.
As a general comment, could we have a thread on this forum for future developments in the IES interface etc. ?
The danger is that we spend ages making spread sheets then suddenly that feature gets released in an update.
Obviously you don't want competitors stealing innovate ideas, but I would say in the majority of cases this isn't a big issue.
Without wanting to sound negative, I sometimes feel that new features come out that I can't see getting much use, when there are items that people on the forum have been very keen to see implemented for years.
A couple of examples being CHP buffer vessels and transparent canopies.
More polls like this and feedback on the development could be really helpful.
Thanks
Ross

Use both.
Mostly the BTM to set up initial templates then the Tab interface to apply them to groups and to make any subsequent exceptions.
What would be useful would be the ability to determine the order of the templates as they appear in both interfaces. For example if it turns out that an additional different template is necessary for en-suite toilets then it would be useful if it was possible to place this next to the original toilet template so they appear next to each other on the list, and also so the list of templates can exactly mirror room groupings.

I also use both, but for the vast majority I use the tabular BTM because I can edit multiple templates at once. I only use the regular BTM to remind myself of multiple parameters of a single template quickly, or to edit/create internal gains (Because this is the only way to do it in the VE, which is very un-intuitive and my biggest request to be fixed in the software. There should be an Apache button to edit the internal gains. If this was the case then I would probably use the T-BTM nearly 100% of the time).

Oooh, this is novel, IES asking users what they like or dislike before making changes...... (did I miss the poll on keeping Vista?......)
Would have said BTM over TBTM every time until I used TBTM today for the first time and found it much easier to use. The process of editing and adding gains in the old BTM is pretty terrible and is much easier in TBTM.
That said, I wish it would be consistent in its arrangement of the internal gains when I assign the damn things - or if VE is going to decide how to order them then at least give the user the chance to re-arrange them afterwards.

What I will say about BTM is that can you change the room highlight from blue to some other colour. You know, one where you can actually see the room name.
