Running multiple cores always crashes suncast

This has been the case for me for a couple years. I always attributed it to my previous laptop and company setup as SOMETIMES (albeit very rarely) I was able to get "enable faster calculations" to work by unplugging from the company network. However, I'm not at the company anymore and am having the same issue with a brand new laptop.

Basically, whenever I enable faster calculations (either by setting option to "on" or to "custom" with 2 or 4 threads) the software immediately crashes when I start the annual simulation (through PRM Navigator this time). When I change the setting back to "off" it will run, but it's deathly slow..

I'm running a new Dell e7470 with an Intel Core i7-6600U processor and Windows 10.

Any suggestions from the community?

I'll answer my own here..

I found I had a couple of non-planar surfaces from my gbXML import. I cleaned them up, and off she went!

Hard to say if that's what caused my issues in the past. It seems very strange that non-planar surfaces would cause the multi-processor simulation to crash with no messages, yet the single processor sim works with no warnings or crashes.. But problem solved this time, so we'll leave it at that.

Hi enerGwizz,

What version of the VE software are you using? It could be a known issue with the version you are using.
