Daylight Dimming Profile in AP-pro

I'm having a problem when writing a formula to deal with daylight dimming control.
I have 2No. sensors in a room and i want to be able to control each of them independantly.
In vista there are two different daylight illuminance variables to choose from, which represent e1 and e2.
The formula I'm trying to create is the following:
(e1<500) | (e2<500)
But when i try check the formula I'm met with the error "Undefined Variable: e2, at position: 13"
can AP-pro only handle one illuminance variable? or have i simply made a logic mistake?
Can someone please clarify what the problem is?
