Colour Code: Current issues, Resolved issues

Problem viewing room units in systems set to HVAC Zone method

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.0.0)
Module: ApacheHVAC
Summary: Problem viewing room units in systems set to HVAC Zones method
Detail: When a user imports a prototype system in HVAC Zones method the default room units present in the zones can not be viewed via the edit dialogs while the zone is Adiabatic.
Workaround: To view room units assigned to any Zone the zone must have model spaces assigned, this can be done temporarily if necessary to view and remove assigned room units. Be aware on systems such as 9i this may be present on the non-principal room
Will be fixed for: VE 2018 Feature Pack

DXF Labels not shown when Rendering mode is intermediate or Advanced

Version: VE 2017 (2017.3.0.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: DXF labels are not shown when rendering mode is set to intermediate or Advanced.
Detail: When the ModelIT rendering mode is set to intermediate or Advanced (ModelIT menu >> Rendering mode) DXF labels are not shown correctly.
Workaround: Change to Basic rendering mode (ModelIT menu >> Rendering mode >> Basic)
Will be fixed for: VE 2018

VE Compliance NCM assignments unpredictable when NCM Activity is selected through Room Settings

Version: VE 2017(2017.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: When a user selects the NCM Activity for a room through Room Settings the assignments to the room are sometimes not for the selected Activity.
Detail: Taking the NCM Activity off of "Default" (i.e the NCM Activity assigned through the thermal template) in Room Settings and selecting a different NCM Activity can lead to either the Actual or Notional Building not having the correct NCM Data assigned. The data used by either building may be for another activity type the user did not select and this is only obvious after looking at results through VistaPro.
Workaround: Users should create thermal templates as shown in the training sessions and select the NCM Activity there. These templates can then be assigned to rooms.
Will be fixed for: Version TBC, rooms settings is to be a display only view in future, users are advised to use the workaround

Error with range test if start time is later than finish time

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.0.0)
Module: VistaPro
Summary: Range test does not work when the start and finish times cross midnight.
Detail: When a user enters a start time later than the finish time, that also crosses midnight, the range test does not work.
Workaround: No workaround
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

Problem displaying DF on illuminance image

Version: VE 2017 (2017.4.0.0)
Module: Radiance
Summary: Problem displaying DF on illuminance image
Detail: When a user generates illuminance image using the CIE Overcast Sky, then opens the image and create Lux values on it and open the units menu - the DF option is inactive.
Workaround: Change the VE to run in "Legacy" mode (Tools >> Preferences >> Simulation >> Legacy Simulation Mode) and rerun the simulation.
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

Crashing when working in ModelIT

Version: VE 2017 (2017.3.0.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Crashing when working in ModelIT.
Detail: Some users have experienced repeated crashing when using ModelIT.
Workaround: Change to Basic rendering mode (ModelIT menu >> Rendering mode >> Basic)
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

OSM command shuts down VE

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.1)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Typing "OSM" command in the ModelIT Key-in field causes the VE to shut down for some users.
Detail: For some users the "OSM" command makes IESVE shut down and "Import map data" shortcut provides an error "Invalid number of parameters"
Workaround: No workaround. If they have it, users can import buildings from map data through File>Import and selecting Shape file (SHP) or GML File (gml).
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

Correct room type is not being assigned if set via Room Settings

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.1)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: Room Type changed to "Other Buffer Space" in VE Compliance
Detail: If you’ve been setting the NCM Activity through Room Settings in VE Compliance (away from the thermal template), then you may notice it defaults to Other Buffer Space if you exit and return to VE Compliance
Workaround: To get your model settings back, select a room while in VE Compliance, on Room Settings, beside “Other Buffer Space”, remove the tick from the “Default” box and change it to “Heated or Occupied”. This will bring back your room settings for all rooms. Switch to ModelIT and then back to VE Compliance. If you query a space you may notice lighting information etc is set to default. To get it back, open the VE 2016 version of your project in that version and use Tabular Room Data to export the information you’ve entered. You can then import this using Tabular Room Data in VE 2017.
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

Radiance UDI Results for Occupied period not showing all Thresholds

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.0.0)
Module: Radiance
Summary: When processing UDI results for Occupied period the specified Thresholds are not written out.
Detail: After processing when user reviews the results available for the room then not all of the Threshold ranges for the Occupied period are available, similarly on the Tabulated output some columns are missing
Workaround: Contact IES Technical Support for information on how to manipulate the results file to output all ranges correctly.
Fixed in: VE 2018.0.0 - Released Wednesday 13th June 2018

Error when selecting "Ventilated modules" for PVS in VE-SBEM

Version: VE 2017 Hotfix 1 (2017.0.1)
Module: VE-SBEM
Summary: Error when running VE-SBEM with PVS that has "Ventilated modules" selected as the PV Type.
Detail: For the latest SBEM update it seems BRE have updated a keyword for PVS inputs. Because of this change VE-SBEM can now supply an input file to SBEM.exe that gives an error message.
Workaround: No known workaround
Fixed in: VE 2017 Feature Pack 3 - Released Thursday 22nd February 2018

Error in BPRM Unmet Load hours

Version: VE 2017 (2017.1.0)
Module: PRM
Summary: The unmet load hours incorrectly reports the Total unmet hours rather than the shared hours.
Detail: The BPRM report can show that the model has failed the Unmet load hours check incorrectly. This is because unmet load hours on the report incorrectly reports the Total unmet hours rather than the shared hours.
Workaround: No real workaround for the report. Users can use the range tool and tick "Shared Hours" to get the correct Unmet Load Hours.
Fixed in: VE 2017 Feature Pack 2 - Released Friday 13th October 2017

Parallel Simulation Manager - Request timeout when results files are large. Failed to download

Version: VE 2017 Hotfix 1 (2017.0.1)
Module: Parallel Simulation Manager
Summary: When using PSM with the task service option enabled, downloading large results files will sometimes cause a timeout error.
Detail: Results files are not being downloaded and moved from the local task folder into the projects Vista folder.
Workaround: You can manually copy the aps results files across to the Vista folder in your project from C:\Program Data\ies\Tasks , selecting the relevant folder number for each simulation. Alternative method is to switch back to legacy simulation mode. You’ll find it under Tools>Preferences>Simulation>Legacy mode
Fixed in: VE 2017 Feature Pack 1 - Released Thursday 28th September 2017

Bivalent System Energy Consumption Incorrect

Version: VE 2017 (2017.0.0)
