How do I merge surfaces ?

I am new to IES VE ModelIt, currently trying to remove a vertical line which seperates two surfaces that together create a 2D rectangle. I want the surface to be a rectangle instead of two squares. Im familiar with the merge tool when in 'plan' view to merge spaces, however do not know how to do the equivalent for two surfaces.

this has came about after i moved the vertices to turn an L shaped space into a rectangular space, then point in which the room turned to create the L is now a single vertical line in the middle of one of the surfaces of the space.

If anyone could help me I would be extremely greatful.
